After nearly a year of separation, Ariana Grande has now officially finalised her divorce from estate agent Dalton Gomez. A Los Angeles Superior Court judgement signed off the decision on 19th March 2024, bringing their three-year long marriage to a close.
Court documents reveal that the 30-year-old singer will make a one-off payment of 1.25 million dollars (£980,000) to the 28-year-old Gomez as part of their financial settlement. Half the profits of the sale of their LA home will also go to Gomez, with Grande additionally contributing another sum of 25,000 dollars (£19,000) towards his legal fees.
The pair first met somewhere between late 2019 and early 2020, when the Grammy-award-winning Grande was looking for a getaway home outside of Los Angeles. Her team enlisted estate agent, Gomez, to help find the ideal property, soon after which Grande asked for an in-person meeting to be arranged with him. They began dating in the following months and would end up quarantining together during the COVID-19 pandemic which immediately ensued. Around the same time, the ‘Thank U, Next’ singer also collaborated with Justin Bieber on their lockdown hit, ‘Stuck with U’, which featured Gomez in its music video, alongside Grande. She then tied the knot with Gomez a year later in an intimate ceremony in May of 2021.
Controversy arose however in 2023 when Grande was seen in public with another man, co-star Ethan Slater from the upcoming ‘Wicked’ movie in with the signer stars as Glinda the good witch, whom she appeared to be dating. It was then soon confirmed, however, that she and Gomez had been separated for some time due to personal issues in their relationship. Grande then filed for divorce six months ago, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. Proceedings appear to have been finalised quickly as that they had a prenuptial agreement in place and no children from the marriage to consider.
Since the split, Grande has released her seventh studio album entitled ‘Eternal Sunshine’ and is set to star opposite Cynthia Erivo, who will be assuming the role of Elphaba, in the movie adaptation of the musical ‘Wicked’, the first film of which is set to be released in November of this year.
